‘Being Sindhi, my money-saving talent is inborn’

Rithvik Dhanjani, who plays the lead in Zee's Pavitra Rishta, doesn't keep his savings lying idle, always keeps an eye on his daily expenditure and believes life insurance is a must.

Rithvik Dhanjani, who gained popularity as Arjun in Pavitra Rishta, shares his money-saving tips and tricks with us.

What are your money-saving tricks?
I am Sindhi so this talent is inborn. I don’t leave my savings just lying around. I like to keep investing in something or the other. I have money in a few bonds and funds. As far as spending is concerned, you can’t just have good intentions. You need a plan and stick to it. You might find it funny, but whenever I think I am overspending, I decide to limit my expenses to Rs800 to Rs1000 per day. I’ve even kept my cards at home to stick to it. So even if I get the urge to buy something, I don’t have any money.

What was the last great deal you got?
I had to buy something to wear for an event. I didn’t have the time to get anything designed. So I jotted down a look and went to various boutiques in Lokhandwala and Bandra. I ended up buying an outfit for Rs3,500, which is way less than it would cost me in a designer shop.

Is there a product or service you don’t mind paying extra for?
Well, life Insurance is one thing I would never mind paying for. What you are buying is peace of mind. Life insurance provides financial protection against events we can’t control.
