Is EMI your best option?

Undoubtedly, you’d be shelling out more if you chose to pay in monthly installments rather than at one go. For example, let’s look at the EMI options available at Infibeam. The GS5 costs Rs47,998 (or almost Rs48,000). For the 3-month EMI, you’d be paying Rs17,511 every month, taking the total cost of the phone to Rs52,533. On the 12-month EMI scheme you’d be paying Rs4,600 every month which would eman you’d be paying Rs55,200 in total – well beyond the one-time cost (Rs7,200 extra).

So if you are looking out for the best price and want to save everywhere you can, stay away from EMIs. It is, however, a good option if you don’t have the entire amount and if you don’t mind paying slightly more to have a new gadget.
