Best deals on console video games
If you own a video games console, you know how expensive a hobby it can be. But if you’re willing to wait awhile before you get into a game you can save tremendously.
Buying console video games new when they are just released is an expensive proposition. You could easily spend thousands of rupees on PS3 and Xbox 360 games which end up sitting on your shelf when you’re done with them. While you could choose games with longer stories to get your money’s worth, you won’t be really satisfied if you don’t enjoy those types of games.
So what can you do to get console games cheaper? For starters, you’ll need quite a bit of patience. If you are able to fight back the urge to get the latest games, you can save over 50% on your console habit.
Games seem to lose their value quickly, which is where you can take advantage. If you go against the crowd and wait for a few months up to a year after a game’s release you could get it at a huge discount. For example, FIFA 14 (which is over six months old but gives you huge replay value) costs as little as Rs3,000 – 14% off from its original Rs3,500 price. You can save even more on a franchise not as popular. For instance, Hitman: Absolution is available at Rs1,120 on Flipkart, down a staggering 60% from its original Rs2,800 price.

Formula for cheapest/best deal?
There doesn’t seem to be any standard rule that you can follow to get the best deal on console video games. That is to say, you may not always get the cheapest deals at a certain store. You’ll be better off shopping around for a game you want. But waiting a few months will definitely make it lighter on your pocket. However, wait too long and you run the risk of the game selling out. If that happens, you’ll have no choice but to buy used. Read more on that here.
