Learn to bake
For a reason we haven’t been able to fathom, a lot of people are scared to bake. It is possibly one of the most fun things to do and yields delicious treats for everyone. So, if you want to get started but you’re weary of cookbooks, head over to Joy of Baking on YouTube as Stephanie Jaworski teaches you how to bake scones, brownies, cookies and pies. The home baker simplifies recipes and provides detailed information to ensure that there is no ambiguity whatsoever.
Give yourself a makeover
If you’ve always owned a few make-up products but never really known what to do with them, head over to Michelle Phalin’s YouTube channel. With 5 million subscribers, this lady knows what she is doing. She does make up in-depth make-up tutorials and recreates look sported by your favourite stars, breaking them down so you can achieve them at home with minimal effort.
Learn new things
There are some people who are fascinated by the most mundane things and would like to know why they happen. If you are one of those who’s curiosity is easily piqued, head over to AsapScience. Their weekly videos teach about things such as the science behind hair loss. In three minutes or so, this channel – started by Canadian university students – manages to crack the phenomenon wide open and explain it to you with cute drawings and voice-overs.
Strum the guitar
Learning to play an instrument can be an expensive affair. However, you have a simpler and cheaper alternative to joining a class – head to JustinGuitar. Justin Sandercoe’s channel has comprehensive beginner’s courses and detailed techniques. Apart from the ABCs you can also master riffs, licks and amazing solos.
Take the perfect photograph
