This can work out cheaper than ordering off the menu, and can also save you the trouble of deciding what to order. Here are our picks of the best set menus in Mumbai.
The White Owl
Set menus can have a delightful gourmet twist to them. All you have to do is head over to The White Owl in Lower Parel for their Express Lunch Menu. The lunch menu consists of a wide variety of soups, salads and entrées. The express lunch is only available up to 3pm, but it includes soups such as the charred tomato galangal, lemon-grass, grilled chicken salad and a roasted pumpkin dish that’s a must-try. They have three different options to choose from – a soup and salad (Rs349), a soup and entrée (Rs349) and a soup, salad and entrée (Rs549).
Where One Indiabulls Centre, Senapati Bapat Marg, Lower Parel
Saffron Bay currently has a set menu which is great value for money. The lunch meal is priced at an affordable Rs499 per person and includes a range of starters and mains. You can look forward to starting your meal with a refreshing beverage (soft drinks or lime water) which will be followed by a soup (manchow, tomato shorba, chicken tom yum). Next up are dishes that Saffron Bay specialises in – a great deal of Indian starters including chote nawab, khasta tikki, chilli chicken, spicy chicken tikka and cocktail samosa. For mains, they have dum aloo patiala, punjabi chole, kadai chicken, chicken chettinad and murgh nilgiri. These can be accompanied by a variety of Indian breads or rice preparations such as steamed rice, jeera rice and pulav. The meal ends with gulab jamun or malai kulfi. We like the variety that they have on offer and for the price it is unbeatable. If you crave North Indian food, then Saffron Bay’s express lunch menu will be perfect for you.

Set menus are usually filled with luxurious dishes and tempting appetisers, but if you’re in a hurry you should head over to Irish House. The four-course lunch at the restaurant sounds elaborate but is packed with power and served quickly. You can rejuvinate yourself in the space and time of your lunchbreak for their power lunch – at Rs350 – which includes a variety of International and European cuisine. It is available every weekday from 12 (noon) to 4pm.

At Rs775 (plus taxes) per person, Aoi’s set menu might be a little expensive, but the food that you’ll get to enjoy will make it an indulgent experience. The Japanese restaurant will start you off with Kukeicha, a traditional Japanese green tea. For the first course, you can choose between the Miko soup with silken tofu and seaweed and the Aoi signature Seafood Bisque. The second course includes the Aoi special soba salad or the Miso and ginger flavoured chicken. The set menu also includes a chef selection of sushi, which makes up the fourth course and you can look forward to three vegetarian or non-vegetarian sushi pieces. For the main course you can opt between the Donburi rice bowl or the Khimchi fried rice, both of which come with either vegetables, egg, chicken or beef. For desert, the restaurant has their signature chocolate sushi that you can try. The set menu manages to capture everything that Aoi has to offer and while it might not be the cheapest option, it will certainly be a delicious one.

o:h cha not only has delicious food, the authentic Thai restaurant is serving a Thai lunch you should not miss out on. With a six-course menu starting at Rs799 (Rs899 for non-vegetarians), it includes a range of fiery hot spices in dishes that are tailor-made for professionals and businessmen in a hurry. With hot soups, fresh salads, curries, rice and delicious main course dishes, you can top off the entire meal with some Thai desserts, or Western ones if you prefer. The set meal is available only for lunch, up to 3pm.
