Minimise expenses at the Indian Grand Prix

There’s no Grand Prix next year and you can’t be certain it will return soon. Luckily, tickets for the race are still available. We list money-saving travel options and room bookings for the race.

The race may have received good reviews, but the big problem with the Buddh International Circuit is getting there. It’s far from the city, the hotels nearby are costly and always full at the time of the race, not to mention that the tickets are fairly expensive. It still, however, remains the easiest and cheapest way for us to catch a Grand Prix. What’s more is that the organiser, Jaypee Sports, has slashed prices for its tickets. Three-day passes start at Rs2,000 (they were Rs3,000 last year), going up to Rs21,000 for all three days in the main stand. Buying the ticket (at BookMyShow or Mercedes showrooms) is the easy bit, though. Prices are fixed, so no room for error. Here’s how to minimise the rest of your expenses, though:

Flight tickets
Depending on where you’re flying from – and the date you book – the airline with the cheapest ticket will change. Our suggestion is to stick to the airline’s official website when you book your tickets. Unless you’re able to find a good discount on a travel agent’s website:

Luckily, there are still rooms available at Airbnb. These rooms are close to the circuit, as well as cheaper than hotels located up to 50km from the circuit:
