Taking your kids for an outing on the weekends doesn’t have to be an expensive affair. It often turns in one, though, and there are ways to reduce spending without skimping on an excitement quotient. We give you a few great options that won’t weigh heavy on your wallet, but which still ensure that your children have loads of fun.
Funskool organizes B-Daman competition
If your child loves to play with marbles, take him to this fun event, where Funskool is conducting a competition. For children who are six to fifteen years old, this competition involves various challenges with marbles and promises an evening of fun and healthy competition. The best part is that it’s completely free.
When June 14 (Kolkata) and June 15 (Mumbai), from 4pm onwards
If your children are getting bored of playing in the local park or at home, treat your child to Water Kingdom, where he/she can explore a whole new world of water rides. They have packages on their website (including a car pick up and drop facility) that are really value for money. The entry costs Rs590 for children.

Take a break from the heat and head to an amusement park where your children can play with artificial snow. Both, Mumbai and Hyderabad have such snow parks where you can expect to find temperatures close to -10 degrees Celsius. You can treat your children to ice skating, snow boarding and making snow men. The entry fee for the Mumbai Snow World (located in the Phoneix Market City Mall, Kurla) costs Rs500 for an hour, while Hyderabad (on Bharath Seva Ashram Marg) has an entry fee of Rs250 for children.

Planetariums make for an educational trip for your children where they can learn as well as have some fun. Nehru Planetarium, located at Teen Murti Bhawan in Delhi, has a variety of informative shows which present information in a fun, interactive way. They have as many as six to seven shows on a particular day and ticket prices for children are priced as cheap as Rs30.
